// Overview

What is Sermorelin?

Sermorelin (Sermorelin acetate, GHRH 1-29) is a synthetic peptide analog consisting of the first 29 amino acids of the naturally occurring 44-amino acid growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). These first 29 amino acids are the biologically active portion responsible for stimulating GH release from the pituitary gland.

Originally FDA-approved in 1997 as Geref for diagnostic evaluation and treatment of growth hormone deficiency in children, sermorelin has become one of the most commonly prescribed peptides in anti-aging medicine. Unlike exogenous HGH, sermorelin stimulates the body’s own GH production in a physiological pulsatile pattern.

Sermorelin is considered the safest entry point into GH peptide therapy due to its extensive clinical history, natural mechanism of action, and self-limiting nature — it cannot cause excessive GH levels because the pituitary’s own feedback mechanisms remain intact.

// How It Works

How Sermorelin Works

Sermorelin is a bioidentical GHRH fragment that works through natural GH pathways:

  1. GHRH receptor activation — Binds to GHRH receptors on pituitary somatotrophs identically to the first 29 amino acids of native GHRH, triggering GH synthesis and pulsatile release.
  2. Self-limiting — Unlike exogenous GH, sermorelin cannot produce supraphysiological GH levels. The pituitary's somatostatin feedback loop naturally caps GH output, making it inherently safer.
  3. Pituitary rejuvenation — Regular sermorelin use may help restore age-related decline in pituitary somatotroph function, potentially providing lasting benefits beyond the treatment period.
  4. Physiological pattern — Produces natural pulsatile GH release with proper peaks (during sleep, post-exercise) and troughs, maintaining receptor sensitivity.

Standard 200-300 mcg Once daily (before bed) 3-6 months
Clinical 300 mcg Once daily (before bed) 6-12 months

What to Expect

Week 1-3

Improved sleep quality is typically the first effect. Deeper sleep with more vivid dreams. May feel more refreshed upon waking.

Week 4-8

Recovery from exercise improves. Energy levels more consistent. Skin beginning to look healthier.

Month 2-4

Body composition gradually improving — reduced fat, improved muscle tone. Hair and nail quality better.

Month 4-6

Full anti-aging benefits realized. Improved skin elasticity, sustained energy, better recovery. Results build gradually and are most apparent with consistent long-term use.

// Preparation

Reconstitution & Storage

Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water. For a 3mg vial, add 3mL BAC water for 1mg/mL (100mcg per 0.1mL).

Inject water slowly. Do not shake. Swirl gently.

Administer before bed on an empty stomach for optimal GH pulse during natural nocturnal secretion.

Storage: Lyophilized: refrigerate 2-8°C. Reconstituted: 2-8°C, use within 14 days.
