What is Semax?

Semax (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a synthetic heptapeptide based on the ACTH(4-7) fragment, developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Unlike the full ACTH molecule, Semax lacks hormonal (adrenocorticotropic) activity — it does not stimulate cortisol production. Instead, it acts as a neurotrophin modulator, increasing brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), nerve growth factor (NGF), and other neurotrophins that support neuronal health, plasticity, and repair.
