AOD-9604 (Advanced Obesity Drug) is a synthetic peptide analog of the C-terminal fragment of human growth hormone (amino acids 176-191). It was developed by Metabolic Pharmaceuticals in Australia to isolate the fat-burning properties of growth hormone while eliminating its growth-promoting, IGF-1-elevating, and insulin-resistance-inducing effects.
The peptide mimics the lipolytic (fat-burning) action of natural HGH by stimulating the beta-3 adrenergic receptor pathway and inhibiting lipogenesis (fat formation). In clinical trials, AOD-9604 demonstrated statistically significant fat loss without affecting blood sugar levels, IGF-1 levels, or causing other HGH-related side effects.
Although its clinical development for obesity was discontinued after Phase 2b trials showed modest overall weight loss, AOD-9604 remains popular in the peptide community for targeted fat loss — particularly when combined with exercise and other metabolic peptides.
